Board-certified and fellowship-trained spine and neurosurgeon, Mark Liker, MD, FAANS, FACS, is the founder and senior partner at California Neurosurgical Institute, with locations in Bakersfield, Encino, and Valencia, California. With a broad range of technical and clinical experience in complex open and minimally invasive spine surgery, brain surgery, functional neurosurgery, stereotactic neurosurgery, and radio-surgery, patients can feel confident that they are receiving the best of care.

Dr. Liker attended Princeton University in New Jersey, where he studied mechanical and aerospace engineering and also completed his requirements for medical school matriculation. After graduating in 1987, he spent several years working on Wall Street in the Financial District of New York City in investment banking and corporate finance and was designated a chartered financial analyst by the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute.

In 1995, Dr. Liker completed his medical degree with honors from the State University of New York. He continued his medical training at the Keck Medical Center of the University of Southern California (USC) and at the Los Angeles County Medical Center. During his training, Dr. Liker completed a fellowship in complex spine surgery.

He takes great pride in his continuing education in order to provide the latest medical insights and treatments to his patients and has authored over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts and chapters. Dr. Liker is highly regarded in his field and has given over 40 presentations on a variety of neurological topics. He is also an assistant professor and faculty member at Keck Medical Center where he directs the USC Deep Brain Stimulation Center.
